Foley Farm Barn History

The barn, once part of the Leeds Castle Estate, dates back to King Henry VIII's time. It is thought to built from the timber and stone remains of the ancient Augustinian Priory, its site located nearby in the village. The Priory was destroyed by the King during the dissolution of the Monasteries between 1536 and 1541.

The barn was bought in a derelict state back in 1983 for £36,000 from Sir Gawaine Baillie, son of Lady Olive Baillie, who then owned Leeds Castle. The barn was then restored and converted, at a cost of around £150,000, into a luxury home with a swimming pool as its centre piece.

Foley Farm Barn has now been completely refurbished, its swimming pool now gone, but its charm and classic character still remain.
